Our Team

  • Dr. Michael Murphy, PT, DPT, OCS, CIDN - Doctor of Physical Therapy

Co-Founder of Divergent Rehab & Wellness, LLC, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Certified Integrative Dry Needling Practitioner (CIDN)

Doctor Michael Murphy, PT, DPT, OCS, CIDN received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University, Iowa and a Bachelors degree in Biology from Hamline University, Minnesota.

We are thrilled to announce at Divergent Rehab & Wellness, LLC our Doctor of Physical Therapy has become a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, a distinguished honor that is shared by less than 5% of all physical therapists in the United States!

Each year the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) recognizes a select few physical therapists who pass a rigorous examination related to their area of expertise to become Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialists (OCS).

The OCS Board Certification is granted by American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) and was established to provide formal recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills that assist the patient toward optimal function through corrective, adaptive, and prophylactic management of the neuromusculoskeletal system. Orthopedic Clinical Specialists are the experts in evaluating and treating musculoskeletal conditions.

Michael specializes in helping active individuals, athletes, and motivated people to reach their goals and live a healthy, active and self-controlled lifestyle without a reliance on pain medications or unnecessary surgery. Michael enjoys helping his clients truly understand their pain, limitations, and barriers, and ensures they feel heard and listened to. Too often in the world of medicine people are told what to do when they haven’t even told their story, and then are just lumped into an assumption or category and not seen as an individual. Even more so people are pulled into a cycle of confusion where no one has explained anything to them only to find they waited an hour to have a provider talk to them for just 5 minutes. Michael empowers his clients with true personalized education, and puts them back in control.

Michael also has a history of playing and coaching soccer competitively across the US, and has been a key to athletic development for players in all settings of the sport (youth, high school and college).

In Michael’s free time, he enjoys exercising, coaching soccer, watching hockey, fishing and spending time with his wife (Hannah) and their 3 kids (Emerson, Mitchell, and Scarlett). Family is so important to Michael, and his clients become family at Divergent Rehab & Wellness.

These injuries along with her time at Good Shepherd Penn Partners has led her to meet knowledgeable and inspiring physical therapists that molded her into the therapist she is today. What makes us different?

At Divergent Rehab and Wellness, we encompass what it means to put you and your health first. No single person travels the same path, and in the journey toward recovery, prevention, or performance no path should be walked equally. We may find common starting points, but your path should be divergent from anyone else…because your individual goals drive your recovery.

Similarly, our rehab approach is divergent from the typical model you will find today. What makes us different?
